The Tenne in Gluringen is a personally and family-run hotel and restaurant in the Goms region of Valais. Twelve individually designed rooms, cuisine rooted in Valais traditions, the Piocher as our gourmet venue, and our special passion for Valais wine are just as much a part of the Tenne as the tranquility and nature right on our doorstep.

Yes. The Tenne Restaurant in Gluringen in the Goms Valley is open to both hotel guests and outside guests. Our cuisine is rooted in the Valais and the Alpine region and combines seasonal, primarily regional ingredients with traditional culinary craftsmanship and inspiration from around the world. For us, this also includes pairing the right wine—with a special passion for Valais wines, their grape varieties, and the people behind them.
When is the best time to visit Goms for a summer vacation?
From July through September, the Goms region shows off its summery side—perfect for hiking, biking, and a “Coolcation” in the fresh Valais mountain air. The transition into fall is especially charming, when nature changes colors and things quiet down. Starting in mid- to late September, game season begins at the Tenne, featuring our game specialties that are famous far and wide.
What's the best way to experience Goms?
The Goms region in Valais is best experienced outdoors—but not just through hiking, cross-country skiing, or biking. Quaint mountain villages, historic houses and churches, living traditions, and regional specialties all tell the story of this high valley’s culture and history. Add to that plenty of nature, tranquility, and a landscape that looks different in every season. Perhaps the best part is the mix itself: being active, exploring, enjoying—and in between, simply not having to do anything.

Yes. There is a charging station for e-bikes at the Tenne. Bicycles and e-bikes can also be stored in our lockable bike room.
Do you have to make a reservation for the Piocher?
Yes. Reservations are required for the Piocher. The gourmet section of our restaurant has only four tables. Here, Fernando Michlig and Christoph Kummer serve a 4- or 6-course surprise menu.
Can you take the train to Tenne?
Yes. Gluringen is accessible via the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway. We are happy to pick up hotel guests at the train station by arrangement and take them back there upon departure.

Do you have to make a reservation at Restaurant Tenne?
Reservations are not required at our restaurant in Gluringen in the Goms Valley, but they are recommended. This way, we can ensure that a table will be available for you when you visit.
How many rooms does the Hotel Tenne have?
The Hotel Tenne is a small, family-run hotel with 12 rooms and 29 beds. Our rooms combine Alpine materials and modern design with a peaceful atmosphere—and plenty of the Goms region right on our doorstep.
What else can you do in the winter besides cross-country skiing?
Even without cross-country skis, there’s plenty to do in winter in Goms: groomed winter hiking trails, snowshoe tours, sledding runs, small and large ski resorts, and plenty of snow-covered nature. The Gluringen ski lift is also located right across from the Tenne.
Is the Tenne a quiet hotel in Goms?
Yes. Gluringen is a small mountain village in Valais—and here at the Tenne, nature and fresh mountain air are always close at hand. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, a slower pace, and time in the mountains, you’ll find a wonderful starting point here. Perhaps that’s the greatest luxury of our time.

Yes. There are bike and cycling routes around Gluringen that wind through the Goms Valley and the Valais mountains. The barn also features a lockable bike storage area and an e-bike charging station.

Yes. The Goms cross-country ski trails are easily accessible from the Tenne in Gluringen. With over 100 kilometers of trails, Goms is one of Switzerland’s most famous cross-country skiing regions. A rather large one. We’re passionate about the extraordinary diversity of Valais wines, its winemakers, and its grape varieties. Our wine cellar features well-known names as well as small producers, rare finds, and indigenous Valais grape varieties.
What is the Piocher?
Piocher is the gourmet section of Restaurant Tenne, with just four tables and a 13-point rating from GaultMillau. There is deliberately no traditional menu here. You can choose between a 4- or 6-course surprise menu—what ends up on your plate is determined by the season, the ingredients, and the creativity of our chefs.
What's included in an overnight stay at Hotel Tenne?
In addition to Wi-Fi, parking, mountain spring water, tea, and various amenities, we also offer things that are hard to put on a bill: peace and quiet, Gommer mountain air, and panoramic mountain views—all included.
Is the Hotel Tenne suitable for families?
Yes. Families are very welcome here. We have rooms for families, and there’s plenty to explore in the surrounding area. In winter, the small Gluringen ski lift is right across the street, and in summer, the nature trail starts practically right outside our front door.
What kind of cuisine does Restaurant Tenne serve?
Our cuisine has its roots in Valais. Fernando Michlig, Christoph Kummer, and their team combine seasonal and—whenever possible—regional ingredients with traditional craftsmanship and inspiration from around the world. Sometimes familiar, sometimes surprising. The main thing is that it tastes good.
Who are the hosts of the Tenne?
Behind the Tenne are Luzia and Fernando Michlig, their family, and a team that shares their philosophy of hospitality: personal, attentive, and uncomplicated. Fernando is the host and chef, while Luzia works alongside him and the team to ensure that your stay feels like a temporary home away from home.
Can you eat at Restaurant Tenne even if you're not staying at the hotel?
Of course. Our restaurant in Gluringen welcomes hotel guests as well as locals, vacationers, and anyone who enjoys good food.
Are dogs allowed in the barn?
Yes, dogs are welcome here. Upon request, we can provide a dog blanket or bed, as well as food and water bowls, for your four-legged friend.
Where is the threshing floor?
along the Route of St James
Die Tenne is located in Gluringen in the Goms Valley, in the canton of Valais. This small mountain village is an ideal starting point for exploring the Goms Valley and the Valais mountains—in both summer and winter.
The geographical direction of the Route of St James provides one indication of its philosophy: it travels from east (sunrise, birth and life) to west (sunset, dying and death). The route ends at the Atlantic (eternity).
One sub-section of this route (the Rhine-Reuss-Rhone trail) now travels directly past our hotel.
We have therefore decided to offer rooms at a special price to pilgrims, as long as they can show us their pilgrim’s pass in advance, depending on availability.

Breakfast can also be booked for CHF 15 and a 4-course half board dinner for CHF 45 per person as an optional extra.
