Words from the winemaker

What Mike Kanzso says about this wine

A wine that surprises and reflects the great potential of white wines from our steeply terraced vineyards in the Upper Valais.

Our story

What connects us with this winery...

Our employee Augusto often works at the Diroso winery in his free time and he introduced us to it. We admire the Baumann family's great commitment to sustainability in dealing with flora and fauna and we can particularly recommend their white PIWI wines to you.

M&M organic wines

M&M-Bioweine was founded in 2008 by Mike and Maria Kanzso-Rüdisühli. Together with their family members and friends, they cultivate plots in the Vispertal, Visperterminen and St. German on the Lötschberg Südrampe. The entire vineyard is cultivated and cared for according to federal organic guidelines. Their winery is the first certified organic winery in the Upper Valais and they specialize in old grape varieties from the Upper Valais and their organic cultivation.

After training as a winemaker and master winemaker, Mike Kanzso gained experience at various wineries around the world. These include Davaz (Fläsch), Stonyridge (New Zealand), La Torre Vini, Marcel Zanolari (Veltlin/Poschiavo, biodynamic), Manincor (Kaltern, South Tyrol, biodynamic), Chanton-Weine (Visp) and Cave du Rhodan (Salgesch).

Maria Kanzso-Rüdisühli grew up on a farm in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley with 11 siblings and learned about vegetable growing from scratch. After completing her commercial training, she went on to train as a medical masseuse and Qigong teacher. At the same time, Maria was one of the best sport climbers in Switzerland, a member of the national team and an active World Cup climber. They still explore the numerous crags in Valais today, as long as their work in the vineyards allows it. In the meantime, Maria has also trained to become a specialist in handling the vines and working in the cellar. She is also responsible for the beautiful garnishes that are served at tastings at the winery, as they come from their own garden.

Doral

«A new breed from two noble grape varieties»

Doral is a new Swiss variety developed by Agroscope in Pully. It was realised in 1965 from the Chasselas and Chardonnay varieties. The aim was to breed a variety that is more aromatic and sugary than Chasselas.

Wines made from the Doral grape variety are fresher and fuller-bodied than the wines of its parent variety, Chasselas, but have the acidity of the other parent, Chardonnay. The sugar content of the berries is high and the variety has flavours of citrus fruits and apricots.
