Since completing his training in viticulture and oenology in Changins and his Master's degree in winemaking, Serge Roh has managed the family estate with great care and clear ambitions: One of his ambitious goals is not only to increase awareness of the indigenous grape varieties of Valais, but also of the unique potential of the vineyards of Vétroz. This is because the municipality's top sites are among the rare Valais terroirs that are not only entitled to bear the AOC seal as a controlled designation of origin, but are even classified as Grand Cru due to their outstanding quality. In order for the wines from these privileged parcels to bear this seal of quality on the label, high demands are placed on the age of the vines, the planting density, the maximum yields, the ripeness of the grapes - and especially, of course, on the taste quality of the wines.
The local grape variety specialty Amigne has been native to Vétroz for a very long time and was probably introduced here by the Romans. In total, just over 40 hectares are planted with this Valais rarity, around 70 percent of which grow in the vineyards around the town of Vétroz alone. Serge Roh owns almost 1 hectare of this rare grape variety and succeeds in capturing the individual magic of the Amigne grapes in the aroma and taste - skillfully combining density and suppleness with intense fruit, complex aromas and noble structure to create an impressively rich terroir white wine with a wonderfully creamy texture and characteristic acidity.
