Petite Arvine Altimus

Description (detail)

A bright yellow-green color unfolds a complex bouquet of cherry, brioche, and lemon zest, suggesting a gentle wine. Surprisingly, however, the palate reveals a lively acidity that lends this powerful wine an exceptional freshness. The vibrant palate with its distinctive acidity and complexity from the aging process, crowned by the characteristic saltiness of Petite Arvine on the finish, make this wine an exquisite treat for connoisseurs.

Lux Vina, Domaines Chevaliers

In 1936, Oswald Mathier-Küchler founded the company "Vins des Chevaliers" in Salgesch, in the midst of an impressive mountain backdrop on the fertile banks of the Rhone. The winery was renamed Domaines Chevaliers in 2017. The current team runs this noble winery with new esprit - a great legacy: Vins des Chevaliers once flew all over the world with the legendary "Dôle des Chevaliers" on board Swissair.

Around 20 hectares are vinified at Domaines Chevaliers. In addition to the traditional brand "Vins des Chevaliers" and the "Sherpa Collection", the premium line "Lux Vina" has also been produced and marketed for several years. Lux means light, and these wines represent the best of the Domaines Chevaliers estate. Vineyards that are difficult to access and old dry stone walls have been selected, restored and revitalized. The oldest vines for Lux Vina are well over 50 years old and produce small yields but very complex grapes.

Our powerful and energetic wines impressively demonstrate how the perfect synthesis of the special geological conditions, the magnificent light conditions in combination with the mild, Mediterranean climate here in Valais allows wines with a specific character of origin to grow. Some of the wines have been organic under the Valais brand since 2019.

Petite Arvine

«A great Valaisan with an international reputation.»

The Arvine grape is certainly one of the most interesting indigenous grape varieties that grows only in Valais. Arvine is often called Petite Arvine to distinguish it from Grande Arvine, an inferior grape variety that has disappeared today.

The bouquet of Arvine is strong, very characteristic, with delicate scents of grapefruit or flowering wisteria. Arvine is one of the noblest grape varieties. Vinified dry, Arvine has a masculine character marked by an interesting salinity and structured acidity. As a late harvest, it acquires a remarkable harmony without losing its typicity.
