Rosé Apanage Brut

Domaine Pommery, Reims
Description (detail)

The Pommery Rosé Apanage Brut is an elegant champagne made from carefully selected Chardonnay grapes and a small proportion of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier vinified in red. This combination gives it its characteristic bright pink color and unique flavor. With a bottle ageing period of 42 months on the lees, this champagne offers a perfect balance between structure, elegance and a savory note.

Enjoy this first-class champagne on special occasions or as an accompaniment to fine food. A champagne that has been vinified using classic methods. Brilliant, clear pink with light golden reflections, good perlage with a steady mousseux. Ripe fruit of oranges and lemon zest is evident. This is accompanied by Christmas spice aromas such as honey sprinkles, rock candy and pepper, as well as tree bark and cedar.

Traditional champagne method

The sparkling basics of champagne

The unique, typical champagne flavour is largely due to the time-consuming méthode champenoise. The bottle fermentation method is copied all over the world, for example in South Africa as "Cap Classique", and Swiss sparkling wines, especially the more expensive ones, are also produced using the traditional bottle fermentation method.

The minimum ageing period for entry-level champagnes in the lower price range is 9 months. Premium champagnes mature much longer on their lees, for example the minimum prescribed maturation period for vintage champagnes is 36 months - and often goes far beyond this: 5 to 7 years of maturation are not uncommon for vintage champagnes from top producers.
